Eye care
1. Please don't forget to consult a qualified
ophthalmologist:-
If your eyes have pain, persistent irritation, itching, discharge
or the sensation of a foreign body.
If you experience a change in vision in one or both eyes,
such as blurring, double vision, blind spots, flashing lights
or floaters.
If you experience problems with too many or too few tears.
If you have had repeated conjunctivitis, or red eyes.
If you are currently taking steroids orally for any other
condition.
If you have a growth on the eyelid or the eyelid is wrongly
positioned.
If you are a longstanding diabetic. |
2. Vision problems due to continuous working on Computers:
Computers have become an integral part of everyone's life
today. It has made things so much fast and simple but along
with that has created new problems related to the eyes. People
who spend a significant time working on the computers everyday
are prone to this problem. However, these computers related
eye problems are mostly due to our own wrong habits. I call
this cluster of problems e-Pain (which may mean electronic
/ eye pain) which is also called Computer Vision Syndrome.
Redness, Pain in the eyes, watering of the eyes, headache,
trritability, fatigue and lack of concentration are some of
the common symptoms observed in these people. Even though
there is no identified one shot remedy for this people can
take the following steps which shall be beneficial in the
long term. |
3. Keep the monitor about at a maximum comfortable distance or
ideally 2-3 feet from the eyes.
Do not continuously gaze at the monitor for long duration.
Take your eyes off the screen as much as possible.
After every hour or so take a 5 minutes break and refresh
your self.
Every half an hour or so close your eyes for 1-2 minutes to
give them rest.
Make a conscious effort to blink more frequently.
Avoid sitting directly in front of AC facing its air window
while working on computer.
Ask your opthalmologist to suggest some convergence exercises
for the eyes.
And please don't forget to have routine
eye testing done at specific times. This will help to detect
your eye problems early and make the treatment simple. |
